Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin and one of the great antioxidant, free-radical destroying vitamins.

There are a few forms of vitamin E, but alpha-tocopherol is the form that is the most active in humans. It is also a wonderful antioxidant.

Antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin C and beta-carotene protect our cells from the damaging effects of free radicals. These free radicals can damage cells and contribute to such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. Vitamin E also plays a part in immune function and DNA repair. Vitamin E can be found in vegetable oils, nuts and leafy green vegetables. Vitamin E supplements can also be taken, and are normally found as alpha-tocopheryl acetate.
