Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 serves to maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells.

Vitamin B12 also helps to make the genetic material found in all cells, DNA. Vitamin B12 is bound to protein in food, and in the stomach releases it from these protein foods during our digestion process.

Vitamin B12 can be found in fish, poultry, milk and eggs, and milk products. So-called fortified breakfast cereals can also be an important source of vitamin B12 for vegetarians and for those who have a milk and egg/dairy-free diet, supplementation with B12 can often be prudent.
