Bodybuilding and Weight Gain

Bodybuilding and weight gain are not subjects often spoken of or covered due to the emphasis placed on weight loss.

There are however those individuals who desire to gain weight, perhaps for sports reasons for example, or for bodybuilding or those that want to "muscle up". Just as being overweight is unhealthy, so also is being underweight. When a person is underweight they are more prone to illness for example.

In any weight gain plan the type of weight gained is the important factor. It is easy to rush down to the supermarket and wheel out a trolley load of chocolate bars but this will most likely not effect the type of weight gain desired! Obviously the aim is healthy bodyweight and muscular mass.

It is inevitable that fat will increase on any weight gain plan as healthy bulk is added and this is normal and to be expected. It is the ratio of that fat that needs to be controlled and it is here that proper knowledge and understanding of the right nutrition plays a major role.

In the meantime, stay healthy.
